Dates: 10th -13th July 2022
Venue: Sol Plaatje University (SPU), Kimberley, South Africa
Theme: ‘Sociology and COVID-19 pandemic: Reimagining the present and the future’
The 27th SASA conference will happen during a period when the global community is still grappling with the new
normal. This conference will thus take a hybrid format (a combination of virtual and face to face presentations) in line
with the COVID 19 protocols.
Abstract Deadline extended: 06 May 2022.
Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words.

SASA 2022 Doctoral Pre-Conference Workshop call for application
@Sol Plaatje University Kimberely 7-9 July 2022
The South African Sociological Association (SASA) invites Doctoral fellows and students from any South African universities to apply and attend the Doctoral Pre-Conference Workshop. Workshop will precede the SASA 27th conference and run from the 7th to 9th of July 2022 (All inclusive).
Guidelines for expression of interests:
Please submit your application by the 10th June 2022 to: [email protected]
The application should be containing:
- A short (250 words) motivation letter by the applicant, explaining what the candidate expects to learn from the workshop.
- An abstract (500 words) of their research project.
- A short summary (300 words) of the main topic they want to discuss at the workshop.
Abstracts will be distributed to all participate in advance.
Funding will cover transport, accommodation and conference registration for 15 selected candidates.
